About the event

Join Lesley for this workshop where you will learn the skills for making a feaure sized lantern. It is oplanned to make two large scale lanterns over the four sessions - one will be a Selkie and another will be a Dragon. These are in line with our theme of Scottish Mythology and Folklore for our wider Halloween project, the details of which can be seen here. The method of making these lanterns will involve sculting willow and covering it with tissue paper. The workshops are designed for people over 16, but if you have a younger person who would like to attend with an adult, please email us: feelgood@myleapproject.org

Lesley has worked as a community Artist for many years, running workshops, creating and directing spectacular open air theatrical events with lanterns made and carried by people of all ages, and including local bands, shadow shows, giant puppets and fire pictures.

During her time in Galloway Lesley was a co-founder of the Terramundi Theatre Company working with children in schools to produce environmental theatre for local communities. She also worked on public art in a variety of media from willow, wood and bamboo to concrete and hand made tiles. Most recently Lesley designed and directed the co-creation of a huge Phoenix mozaic on the terrace outside the Universal Hall at the Park, Findhorn, Moray. Lesley’s community art training was through volunteering with different companies including Welfare State International and Horse and Bamboo Theatre. so worked on public art in a variety of media from willow, wood and bamboo to concrete and hand made tiles.
